gher costs, thinner margins and the pressure to do more with less.
The course is built around 10 short modules, each lasting around 15 minutes, with brief assessments designed to reinforce the material. It covers the basics of identifying what a business actually needs, selecting vendors, handling contracts, managing supplier relationships, understanding risk and improving value for money. According to oboloo, no prior procurement experience is required.
The company says the aim is to replace instinct-led buying decisions with a more structured approach. Adam Thomas, oboloo’s co-founder, said the start of the school year was a useful reminder that people can still pick up practical skills that make a difference day to day. He added that for SMEs watching cash flow closely, learning how to spend more intelligently and negotiate better deals can have a direct impact on the bottom line.
Oboloo describes procurement as common sense when the fundamentals are handled properly. The firm says better process can help businesses avoid unnecessary costs and reduce exposure to supplier-related risk, while making budgets stretch further.
The launch also fits a wider trend in the SME market, where access to enterprise-style tools is increasingly being offered without upfront cost. Oboloo says its broader platform is free to use and is intended to help smaller organisations manage sourcing, suppliers, contracts and savings more effectively, replacing spreadsheet-based processes with a cloud-based system.
The company’s new course is being positioned as an entry point for firms that want a practical introduction to procurement rather than a theoretical one. Its focus is on immediate use, with examples and guidance aimed at day-to-day business decisions rather than formal training for specialists.
