Metro, which supplies wholesale and delivery services in more than 30 countries, has been looking for a platform that can preserve local relevance while giving headquarters tighter oversight. Khaled Bagban, Metro’s chief information officer, said the company needed an approach that balanced those two demands and added that it wanted a partner capable of translating technology into tangible business value.
The deal adds to a busy year for TCS in Europe. In August, the company announced a five-year agreement with Porsche AG to establish a dedicated AI Mobility Centre and expand AI services across the carmaker’s operations, underlining its push to win large-scale transformation mandates from major industrial groups.
TCS said it has been present in Europe for more than 45 years, with close to 15,000 employees across the region and a German presence dating back to 1991. The company reported consolidated revenue of ₹72,275 crore in the first quarter of FY2027, up 13.9% from a year earlier, and said total contract value for the quarter was $9.5 billion.
Metro reported sales of €32.4 billion in its 2024-25 financial year and said it serves around 15 million customers through its wholesale network.
