ting systems. Overroute says the aim is to reduce friction in execution and, over time, improve asset utilisation by helping operators respond more quickly to disruption and keep freight moving efficiently.
J.B. Hunt said the platform is already being used across its business units, with the AI agents working on millions of loads. Nick Hobbs, the company’s chief operating officer, said the scale and complexity of the group’s network give it room to test emerging technology in live operations and use AI as a tool to streamline freight execution.
The launch fits a broader pattern at J.B. Hunt, which has spent years integrating digital tools into its logistics operations. The company has previously paired its J.B. Hunt 360° platform with other systems to improve pricing visibility, capacity access and shipment matching, while also pursuing strategic technology alliances with the likes of Google and KeepTruckin. It has also used innovation partnerships in other parts of its network, including the Quantum intermodal service created with BNSF Railway.
According to J.B. Hunt, Overroute is the first start-up to emerge from its partnership with UP.Labs, underlining the carrier’s willingness to help develop new freight technology rather than simply adopt it after launch. For Overroute, the public release gives it a customer base beyond its original co-design work and positions the company as a new entrant in a freight market increasingly shaped by automation, visibility tools and workflow integration.
