Micron Technology has agreed long-term automotive memory supply deals with seven major partners, a move aimed at locking in demand as the car industry shifts further towards software-defined and AI-enabled vehicles.

Micron said the agreements are intended to give both sides earlier visibility on technology roadmaps and supply requirements, helping carmakers and suppliers plan production more effectively while giving Micron clearer signals for capacity investment. The company also said the arrangements should support more stable procurement and pricing for customers as vehicle electronics become more complex.
Sanjay Mehrotra, Micron’s chief executive, said the next phase of automotive innovation depends on a strong supplier ecosystem that can provide the memory and storage needed for safer and more capable vehicles. Cristiano Amon, chief executive of Qualcomm, said the industry’s move towards software-defined vehicles requires platforms that combine computing, memory, storage and connectivity.
The agreements come as automotive technology suppliers increasingly coordinate over longer product cycles, particularly in areas such as safety systems and digital cockpits where reliability standards are high. Hyundai Mobis also pointed to the need for resilient supply chains and longer-term planning as ADAS adoption accelerates. Micron, which makes DRAM, NAND flash and NOR flash, said NOR flash remains widely used in automotive and embedded systems that need fast access to critical data.
