ciated Press said the strikes marked the most serious confrontation since a ceasefire took effect on 8 April.
The latest Israeli action followed Iranian missile launches towards northern Israel overnight and on Sunday, which Tehran said were retaliation for Israeli strikes in Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israeli officials said their earlier attacks had targeted Hezbollah-linked infrastructure and command sites, intensifying fears that the confrontation could widen further.
The Associated Press reported that Iranian officials have referred to their campaign as “Operation Nasr”, while Israel said it struck military targets in Iran. In one account, Israel also targeted petrochemical facilities in Khuzestan province, underscoring the range of possible objectives in the escalating exchange.

Iranian authorities have previously warned that any fresh Israeli attack would draw further retaliation, and the latest round of strikes suggests both sides are still edging towards a broader regional conflict rather than stepping back from it.
