Geoff Lee, vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Siemens EDA, said the collaboration would help bring new technologies “closer to industrial reality” by linking emerging companies with Digital Twin validation, engineering environments and prospective customers. René Kromhof, founding partner of Cloudberry VC, said the partnership would help founders in specialist deep-tech sectors scale more quickly by connecting them directly to industry.
Cloudberry VC describes itself as Europe’s first dedicated venture capital fund focused on semiconductors, photonics and advanced materials. Based in Helsinki, with team members in Finland, Germany and the UK, it backs companies at pre-seed and seed stage across compute and electronics, photonics, connectivity and sensing, and advanced materials and tools.
The Siemens-Couldberry tie-up comes as Europe seeks to reduce dependence on overseas technology suppliers and build stronger domestic capability in strategic areas such as AI hardware, robotics, sensing and autonomous systems. Siemens said the collaboration would create earlier visibility into promising technologies and give its customers a clearer route to testing and adopting them.
The company has already been expanding its Cre8Ventures activity across Europe. In March, Siemens said MemStera had joined the Cre8Ventures Digital Twin Marketplace to advance sovereign AI and autonomous systems, while another announcement later that month said the unit was exploring work with SpiNNcloud on brain-inspired high-performance computing designed to improve energy efficiency in sparse workloads.
Siemens stressed that the new partnership with Cloudberry is non-exclusive and does not involve any equity investment or ownership structure. Instead, it is framed as an ecosystem-led effort focused on industrial validation, collaboration and better access to customers and markets.
