The discussions reflected a sector under pressure from geopolitics, shifting trade routes, sustainability demands and rising customer expectations. Samir Somaiya, vice-president of the ICC and chairman and managing director of Godavari Biorefineries, argued that supply chains can no longer be judged purely on efficiency, while KPMG’s Aman Sethi said chemical logistics now has to be designed around disruption as well as growth. Patrick Hore of A.P. Møller–Maersk added that businesses need agile networks that can absorb trade realignments, digital change and decarbonisation requirements without interrupting continuity. The government used the forum to underline its industrial infrastructure push. Rajat Kumar Saini of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation said integrated industrial corridors, multimodal logistics and plug-and-play industrial parks would be central to improving India’s position in global supply chains, while Vishnu Sharma of DPIIT stressed the need for smart townships, seamless connectivity and sustainable logistics. The ICC also unveiled a KPMG white paper on chemical logistics, covering risk, transformation, digital tools and sustainability, and honoured companies with Responsible Care Logo Certificates for work in safety, environmental protection, security and responsible manufacturing.
