Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo. According to Co-op, the system will show product performance, shopper search terms, search positioning and store-level availability, with the retailer saying suppliers will be able to use the same information as its own category teams.
The move reflects the growing importance of quick commerce for grocery suppliers, particularly in convenience-led channels where availability, visibility and search performance can have a direct effect on sales. Co-op’s network of around 2,300 convenience stores gives it a significant footprint in that market, and the company says the platform is intended to help suppliers make more informed category recommendations and support joint growth.
Co-op Catalyst is due to be opened to suppliers later this year. The retailer says the aim is to combine digital shelf analytics with on-demand performance data, giving suppliers a more detailed picture of how products are discovered, bought and stocked across its online and aggregator-led proposition.
For suppliers, the appeal lies in access to data that has typically been difficult to obtain in a quick-commerce environment, where shopper behaviour can change rapidly and the impact of search ranking or local store availability can be immediate. Co-op’s pitch is that the new platform will turn that information into practical actions for brands, helping them to improve visibility and availability while strengthening the retailer’s own category planning.
