ing vendors a clearer picture of the firm’s procurement procedures, onboarding rules, KYC requirements, tax invoicing, payment cycles, technical specifications and contractual expectations.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Adenike Labinjo told participants that vendors are not merely service providers but strategic partners whose performance has a direct effect on the company’s ability to deliver value. She said Pinnacle’s growing business made it increasingly important that both sides work from a shared understanding of expectations, responsibilities and standards. Safety, regulatory compliance and ethical conduct, she said, remained non-negotiable.
Senior executives from procurement, engineering, compliance, finance, legal, HSE, sales and marketing used the forum to walk vendors through operational requirements, including supplier prequalification, service level agreements and contractor responsibilities. The company also outlined improvements to its purchase order process, which it said are intended to make transactions more efficient and transparent.
An interactive question-and-answer session allowed suppliers to raise concerns about procurement, project execution, HSE obligations and other operational issues, in what the company described as an effort to strengthen open communication and continuous improvement.
According to Pinnacle, the forum also recognised five vendors whose work stood out over the year. Great Grace Enterprise received an award for outstanding delivery performance, Cevets Nigeria Limited for excellence in project delivery, Ceezik Projekts for outstanding quality, Diadco Nigeria Limited for outstanding responsiveness and Sephill Innovative Solutions Ltd for best commercial value.
Head of Procurement and Administration Oluseyi Ogunfowora said the initiative reflected the company’s broader push for transparency, collaboration and shared accountability. She said procurement acts as the co-ordinating function across engineering, operations, marine, compliance, legal, finance and HSE, and urged suppliers to submit complete documentation, communicate promptly and seek clarification where needed. Strong partnerships, she said, depend on trust, clear communication and a mutual commitment to operational excellence.
The vendors’ forum comes as Pinnacle has been working to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas market. The company was recently named Midstream/Downstream Company of the Year by the National Association of Energy Correspondents, which praised its investment in infrastructure, operational efficiency and service quality. Pinnacle says it operates one of West Africa’s most advanced offshore mooring systems and onshore terminals, and continues to expand its retail footprint, with two additional service stations due to open in Benue and Lagos in October.
The emphasis on performance and partnership also fits a wider pattern at the company. Earlier this year, Pinnacle marked International Women’s Day with programmes focused on financial planning, mental health and workplace wellbeing for female employees, while chief financial officer Sunday Anyaogu recently completed a doctorate at the University of Lagos Business School, underscoring the group’s stated focus on learning and governance.
For Pinnacle, the message from the forum was clear: as operations grow, the quality of the supplier base becomes increasingly central to the company’s ability to deliver reliably, safely and at scale.
