Koenig & Bauer and INX deepen partnership to enhance sustainable UV printing

Koenig & Bauer and INX International have deepened a long-standing technical relationship with a global partnership aimed at improving the performance and sustainability of LED-UV, HR-UV and conventional UV printing.

According to the companies, testing across Koenig & Bauer’s Rapida sheetfed offset press range showed that INX ink systems, including INXCure LW and INXCure UVXcel, can shorten makeready times, improve colour consistency and cut waste during job changes. ...

They said the result is more productive use of press time and a more efficient production process for commercial printers and packaging converters.

Dirk Winkler, who leads process and printing technology and product management at Koenig & Bauer Sheetfed, said the agreement reflects customer demand for a more integrated approach rather than isolated products. He added that INX’s strength in energy-curable inks gives printers the flexibility they need to respond to industry pressures.

The partnership also places heavy emphasis on environmental and health standards. The companies say LED-UV systems can reduce energy use in production, lowering the carbon footprint of print providers, while also supporting future healthy-printing standards and cradle-to-cradle certification goals for packaging.

Koenig & Bauer already recommends INX inks for its Rapida presses after extensive technical testing, and says the inks are in use at its customer and training centres. The new deal formalises that alignment into a wider support model, with demonstrations and training held through Koenig & Bauer’s global centres, alongside open-house events, trade-fair appearances and workshops intended to transfer technical know-how directly into customer operations.
