Flipkart’s supply-chain presence in Tamil Nadu now covers more than 25 lakh square feet, according to the company, with dedicated seller growth teams in Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Chennai helping businesses with onboarding, product listing, logistics integration and capability building.
Kalyan Krishnamurthy, chief executive of Flipkart Group, said Tamil Nadu combines a strong manufacturing base, deep technology talent and an expanding digital economy, adding that the company wants to deepen its work with the state government and support its next stage of economic growth.
The company also underlined the importance of Chennai as a technology hub. It said its data centre in the city is one of its largest infrastructure investments in India and supports critical group operations, with a significant share of its power drawn from renewable sources. Flipkart said the state’s technology workforce and clean-energy ecosystem make it well placed for further expansion.
Its quick-commerce arm, Flipkart Minutes, has also grown rapidly in Tamil Nadu, with more than 90 micro-fulfilment centres now operating in the state. Flipkart said more than 1,000 electric two-wheelers, or around a quarter of its delivery fleet in Tamil Nadu, are now in use, linking the company’s logistics expansion with the state’s push towards cleaner mobility.
Beyond conventional online retail, Flipkart said its Samarth programme is helping MSMEs, artisans and handicraft producers reach national markets. It is also working with TN-RISE to support women entrepreneurs, start-ups and farmer producer organisations, while its Samarth Krishi initiative sources fresh produce from FPOs in the state.
The company added that its foundation is supporting community projects in Tamil Nadu, including coastal clean-up drives that have involved more than 2,100 volunteers and reached about 6.9 lakh people. It is also running programmes for vulnerable communities in southern Tamil Nadu.
Flipkart’s wider group presence in the state includes Myntra, which works with apparel and knitwear sellers, and Cleartrip, which is supporting travel to destinations such as Chennai, the temple towns of Madurai, Rameshwaram, Tiruchirappalli and Thanjavur, as well as hill stations including Ooty and Kodaikanal.
The company said the collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government would extend across technology infrastructure, digital commerce, sustainable logistics, financial inclusion and community development, with the aim of creating more opportunities for businesses, farmers, artisans and local communities.
