I am the co-founder of HBM Advisory, a strategic consultancy that helps clients unlock the full potential of their content businesses. I work with publishers, both traditional news businesses and their challengers, to align products and content to the needs of their users; I advise on how to optimise customer journeys and build successful monetisation options; and I share my experience on how to transform businesses to take full advantage of the digital revolution. My experience at some of the world’s leading digital news publishers allows me to make sure clients have all aspects of their business focused on the right goals. I am also a NED and advisor for SaaS start-ups. I was formerly General Manager of Times Newspapers Ltd, with responsibility for the financial performance of The Times and The Sunday Times and for setting and implementing brand strategies for long-term cross-platform growth. Prior to managing The Times and Sunday Times, I was Publisher and Chief Operating Officer of The Economist.

I founded my first successful company at the age of 17 and haven’t looked back since. Entrepreneurship has always been in my DNA, driven by a deep belief in the power of relationships to create real, lasting success. Over the years, I built my career as a procurement and supply chain practitioner, working with businesses to navigate complex challenges and unlock strategic value. That journey has taken me across industries, countries, and leadership roles - including founding Suppeco, my third successful venture - always with the same guiding principle: relationships are at the heart of sustainable business. Today, through SRM Today, I’m focused on sharing insights, challenging old thinking, and helping others harness the true potential of Supplier Relationship Management.

I drive Procurement transformation at SSR Mining by leading strategic sourcing and category management activities for multiple spend categories. It’s a dynamic world shaped by geopolitics, regulations and increasingly volatile economics. At Irving Oil, my leadership in IT Procurement and Contracts is defined by a commitment to maximizing efficiency and driving innovation in procurement processes. With proficiency in negotiation, contract management, and vendor management, I am dedicated to advancing strategic interests and optimizing operational workflows. My prior tenure at Novartis, where I navigated the complexities of global business development and licensing operations, further honed my skills in fostering strategic partnerships and alliances. These experiences have cemented my role as a catalyst for digital transformation in procurement, ensuring alignment with business objectives and sustained company growth. My foundational experience in delivering Procurement consulting and advisory services helps me understand Procurement challenges at varied industries and apply the best-fit solutions.

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of procurement and people. After leading many large companies through major change, I moved into consultancy to help organisations reimagine what procurement - and the teams behind it - can achieve. As VP of Client Relationships at Positive Purchasing, I partner with CPOs and their leadership teams to build high-performing procurement functions that deliver measurable outcomes. I also host the Procurement in 5 Minutes podcast, where I sit down with experts to explore challenges from supplier diversity to digital innovation -all in bite-sized episodes you can listen to on your coffee break. In every role, my goal has been the same: to make procurement more dynamic, more inclusive, and more impactful. When I’m not immersed in procurement strategy, you’ll often find me climbing some of Scotland’s mountains, paddling my kayak along misty lochs, or throwing a ball for my golden Labrador. I’ve been where many Vendor Managers are now, going through chaos, chasing updates, and trying to prove the strategic value of the role. I’m Celia SGAR, founder of Vendor Manager Hub and Vendor Score IT. My work focuses on helping Vendor Managers shift from reactive firefighting to confident, strategic leadership. Over the past decade, I’ve partnered with teams at PepsiCo, Nestlé, and Danone to fix fragmented processes, embed practical governance, and elevate Vendor Managers into trusted business partners, not just spreadsheet operators. Vendor Management isn’t broken. It’s just rarely built with the structure it needs. I’m a passionate leader in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), with over 20 years of experience developing and nurturing trust-based partnerships with colleagues and suppliers. I’ve led strategic governance and cross-functional program management in complex, multinational, and matrixed environments. My expertise lies in vendor governance and performance frameworks that support data-informed decision-making and drive operational excellence. Throughout my global roles at Gartner, Novartis, and most recently Roche, I’ve consistently helped senior stakeholders collaborate effectively and align on strategic priorities through insight-driven dialogue. I’ve designed, launched, and embedded SRM frameworks that deliver measurable value and improve performance across diverse portfolios of strategic suppliers—particularly in the Managed Services and Technology space. Having lived and worked in Austria, the UK, Italy, and Switzerland, I bring a globally agile mindset and strong cultural awareness to everything I do. I’m driven by a genuine passion for enabling collaboration, building alignment, and unlocking collective potential.

I am a co-founder of VRM Gurus, where I help organizations turn vendor and supplier management into a true competitive advantage by driving innovation, reducing risk, and unlocking measurable business value through nearly 30 years of experience helping companies maximize the value of their vendor and supplier relationships. Most recently, I served as Principal Advisory Director at Info-Tech Research Group, where I made foundational and significant contributions to establishing a vendor management research practice. I collaborated with executives worldwide to develop and enhance vendor and supplier management programs and designed sourcing strategies that resulted in millions of dollars in savings. Along the way, I’ve co-authored the book “The Art of Creating a Quality RFP,” published articles in Computerworld, CIO Magazine, and Inside Supply Management, and led workshops and keynotes on vendor and supplier management.
