more than 100 employees attending the Pohang event alone. According to POSCO, the meetings were designed to give suppliers a clearer picture of its procurement strategy while also creating a forum for direct feedback from companies working on site.
The company used the gatherings to outline its 2026 purchasing policy and broader procurement direction, and to recognise suppliers that had delivered strong results under its Benefit Sharing scheme. POSCO also provided guidance on fair trade practices, information security and the prevention of data leaks, together with briefings on safety obligations at construction and delivery sites and the procedure for assessing contractors’ safety capability grades.
In addition to the formal training elements, the meetings included an introduction to POSCO’s Supplier Refresh Programme and information on support schemes offered by the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, reflecting what the company described as a more hands-on approach to addressing supplier concerns.
Supplier feedback suggested that the meetings were welcomed as a practical opportunity to discuss operational issues. Song Ho-jin, chief executive of KRST Daehan Dongbang, a materials supplier based in the Pohang area, said the sessions were valuable because they offered an overview of everything from purchasing direction to safety and information security standards, while also creating space to raise difficulties experienced in the field.
POSCO said it intends to broaden information-sharing with regional suppliers and continue cooperation that is rooted in day-to-day operational needs. The steelmaker said the ultimate aim is to reinforce mutual trust and support shared growth through more regular, practical engagement with its supplier network.
