**Berlin**: Choco has introduced the Choco Autopilot, an AI-driven ordering assistant that automates and customises order management for wholesalers and restaurants, supporting multiple order formats and languages, serving 15,000 suppliers and 60,000 buyers worldwide.
Choco, a Berlin-based technology company, has expanded its offerings to automate the ordering process for wholesalers, marking a significant advancement in the digitalisation of the food service industry. Founded in 2018, the company has introduced an updated app alongside a proprietary AI solution known as the “Choco Autopilot”, which aims to streamline order management for restaurants and wholesalers alike.
Daniel Khachab, co-founder and CEO of Choco, highlighted the new capabilities of their app, which is now available as a white-label solution. This development allows clients to customise the application to better align with their brand identity, a request that Khachab noted had come directly from their customers. “We have recently made this solution available,” he said, indicating a responsiveness to market demands for greater brand recognition.
The introduction of the Choco Autopilot represents a pioneering step in the food industry, being the first AI agent specifically designed for this sector. The system operates in a highly autonomous manner, being capable of determining whether an order should be processed immediately or flagged for further review. Khachab elaborated on its advanced features, stating that the Autopilot “understands what I am ordering, recognises my ordering behaviour, and asks questions.” This functionality positions the system as a versatile tool that can handle various order formats, including telephone calls in multiple languages, emails, PDFs, and even photographed handwritten orders. This flexibility caters to clients who may prefer not to use the app directly.
As the system processes transactions, it continuously learns and adapts, ensuring improved accuracy over time. Merchants have the option to designate which customers the Autopilot can handle automatically and which require more manual oversight. The company has dedicated the last two years to developing this technology, supported by a developer team consisting of 100 professionals.
Choco’s growth trajectory has also seen it expand internationally, with the United States being its largest market, followed by Germany and France. Notably, the wholesaler Dot Foods in the USA has implemented Choco’s ordering solution, while the Paris-based Rungis serves as a customer in France. In Germany, significant clients include Grohage, Sahne Kähler, and Edeka Foodservice, with Edeka representing one of Choco’s largest partnerships domestically. This collaboration has been ongoing for approximately three years, underscoring the company’s established presence in the market.
Currently, Choco claims to serve about 15,000 suppliers globally, which together cater to approximately 60,000 buyers, reflecting a substantial scale of operations within the food service sector.
